There are lots of reasons to go back to school. But do you really need a degree? Here are a few things to think about…

There are lots of jobs out there.
The U.S. Department of Labor reports that 13 of the 20 careers on its fastest growing occupations list and 19 of the 20 careers on the list of those expected to generate the most new jobs require two years or less of education. That’s millions of new jobs that don’t require a college degree!

However, going back to school is a great way to help yourself stand out in the job market—and land one of those new positions. You just have to make sure it’s the right education.

Job-focused training can give you a leg up.

All of that career growth is great news for military spouses because it means that there will likely be positions available no matter where you live. But how do you make sure you have the skills employers are looking for?

Job-focused training programs (certificate or non-degree programs) are a streamlined way to get the training you need. These programs are also often online, and that flexibility is another reason they’re a great option for military spouses.

Get trained in just a few months.

Certificate programs are also less of a time investment. These programs help you gain the specific skills you’ll need to succeed in your field of choice, and you can be career ready in just a few months depending on your program.

Save big on tuition.

With college tuition prices going up 500% over the last few decades, going back to school can come with a big price tag. But if you’re spending less time in school, you’ll likely be able to decrease these costs. Certificate or online programs may also be more affordable because they remove many of the administration costs of education.

With a certificate program you can cover all of your costs for $3,000 or less! These programs may also qualify for programs such as MyCAA, which can cover all of the costs of eligible military spouses.
