Military Spouse Employment Partnership

Posted in Employment ResourcesNo Comment

employment-resourcesMilitary spouses have a wonderful career search resource available to them. The Department of Defense has created the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) to help military spouses prepare for and obtain a career. Formerly the Army Spouse Employment Partnership (ASEP) the Department of Defense created MSEP to serve military spouses of all branches in 2011.

MSEP establishes partnerships with employers across the world that are committed to hiring and supporting military spouses. MSEP has grown to currently have over 160 partners. These partners have hired more than 36,000 military spouses – that is an average of 225 military spouses hired per MSEP employment partner.

Military spouses can go to the MSEP website to search for job openings available from MSEP partners. MSEP posts on their website how many active job openings are available – which currently shows over 150,000 jobs available. There are many other resources available to military spouses on the MSEP website, including resume and cover letter templates as well as career advice.

MSEP is part of the Spouse Education & Career Opportunities (SECO) program. The SECO program assists military spouses with finding funding for career training, including MyCAA funding, as well as assists military spouses in utilizing MSEP resources to help obtain career goals. SECO has consultants available during normal business hours for military spouses to call and speak with about education and career guidance.

One organization that is both a MyCAA approved institution and a MSEP employment partner is Career Step. Career Step is an original member of MSEP and was inducted as a partner when MSEP transitioned from ASEP. Please contact Tim Reynolds, Career Step Military Liaison, for more information about how Career Step works with MSEP and SECO at tim.reynolds@careerstep.com.
